Match report Epping went to the home of the league leaders on the back of a couple of decisive wins but this game would be a far harder test.
After losing the toss, Epping were put in to the field. They opened the bowling with Adams and Holden who both bowled very tight lines and on a good batting track kept the runs to a minimum, to such an extent that at the half way stage of 26 overs Billericay were on about 70. After the break Adams and Holden continued and this sustained spell of pressure bowling continued. Adams finished on 16 overs 4m 2 for 44 and Holden,s figures were 18 overs 1m 2 for 49.
These were replaced by Khan and Kayani who continued to bowl a tight line and length and finished with figures of Khan 10overs 1m 1 for 36 and Kayani 8overs 3m 3 for 24. At one point Billericay were 123 for 8 but with some stubborn tail end resistance moved the score along to 171 at the close of their innings a total we would have settled for on the journey down in the car but some what dissapointed that we couldn,t wrap up the last two wickets.
After tea Merritt and Twitchett jnr. set about the task of securing the runs required and put on 70 for the loss of the first wicket when Merritt was stumped for 21. Ellis joined Twitchett and they moved the score to 123 before Ellis was bowled for 31 including a huge 6. Twitchett was still going strong punishing the bad balls with an array of shots and after Ellis was dismissed Dan Sly came in next and steered us home with just over 14 overs remaining, with Twitchett finishing on an unbeaten 95.
